It's not entirely true. I'm from Finland, and salary information is open in many cases, because the coutry strives for equal treatment. Otherwise, for example, women would be paid less than men and all that ugliness would continue flourishing. The salary of the most visible people, like politicians and big businessmen, is published annually in papers.
