It's merely your own opinion unless you present a strong proof. Here's a counter-argument: A CS degree only "helps" for a first hire—i.e., for Jr. positions. Just because otherwise the employer has no proof you have any knowledge to qualify. Usually, after the first job, you're no longer interested in Jr. positions, and this is where experience comes into the first plan. (Before you jump into conclusions about me BG, I have a non-CS engineering degree, I'm a self-taught programmer with 8 y. or experience and have interviewed plenty of candidates with all kinds of education and experience.)
